Moving House

After the pool was closed I went to Corneli for brinner - breakfast&dinner. The bacon and eggs and salami were all good. We watched The Shipping News. It was unexpectedly good, some good actors, and I loved the fresh environment of New Foundland. A lot of English teachers come from there and I can see why. At Don't Go someone has written on the wall, Jesus was a Newfie. A bit strange, I know.

It is bitterly cold there, always by the look of it, and there is not a heck of a lot of work. It is a good story. I enjoyed the idea of people towing a house over the ice because they had become unpopular in a certain area.
And since I am interested in writing, I relished Kevin Spacey's success as a writer, even though he was only experienced as an ink setter.

The ordinary decent guy getting the beautiful lovelorn girl also works for me.
I won't give this away for those who haven't seen the movie, but there is an amazingly funny scene involving the ashes of Spacey's father.

I also enjoyed the way Spacey nearly drowned, and the guy who did drown, for a while...
Drowning is a theme in this story, and the real book ends suggesting that love may be possible without pain. Do you think so? Can someone who is drowning finally learn to swim?  Posted by Hello
