Fish and Kids

Monica and Clara, and behind them, David and Rich. This was before our trip to the farm.

I was asked to take care of another class that I have never taught before, Cambridge, so Kelly looked after Princeton. I got to know Cambridge really well in the bus and they were really well behaved. It was a great outing.

In the bus on the way back we made animal sounds and guessed the animals. The funniest one was the fish, and when I squawked "Hello, how are you?" like a parrot, I said it wasn't a parrot, it's a grandmother.

It was all good until we got back. With just 3 minutes to go before lunch Matt, the only boy in the class, threw a tantrum because the girls won more points in a Harry Potter Quiz I invented on the spot. When Stacy arrived Matt was crying and hysterical. I was annoyed with Matt. He just couldn't bare losing to girls. He was almost hysterical. Crying, jumping, lashing out.

Teaching kids is art, science, psychology...a more genuine test of human nature, including one's own, than any marketing exercise. Any fish could tell you that. Posted by Hello
