We're about to publish something very similar to your piece titled - Why Men Go Walkabout, which is about man's eternal quest to up and travel, citing Homer's The Odyssey for one.
The Cairo to Cape aspect sets your piece apart and because it's more a personal blow-for-blow account, opposed to a more philosophical think-piece, I think it'll work well.
