Win/Lose

>"We want a society that's not run for the benefit of shareholders, but run for the benefit of society." - Helen Steel, who, with Dave Morris, were sued by McDonald's for libel after their action group delivered leaflet's titled: "What's Wrong With McDonald's".

This led to the McLibel Trial, an infamous British court case between McDonald'sand a former postman & a gardener from London. It ran for two and a half years and became the longest ever English trial. The defendants were denied legal aid and their right to a jury, so the whole trial was heard by a single Judge, Mr Justice Bell. He delivered his verdict in June 1997.
