2 Useless Treks

I collected my Alien card today. I've been in Korea for more than 6 months and my VISA status is today, completely legal and acceptable. Since I've just been deemed a perfectly legal alien, I might be tempted to stay a bit longer. Not.

This year, for the first time, the Immigration Office now becomes available, for Ilsan teachers, at the local District Office, right by Jeongbalsan subway station. It's on the first floor, open every Wednesday. That means, in the future, losers won't have to make 1 hour bus trips (at W3000 each way) and use up a whole morning that might otherwise be dedicated to watching porn, recovering from a hangover, or cleaning the floor.
I might write an Ode To Joy that Uijongbu will never see the likes of me again, but I have other odious tasks, like a kitchen to clean.

I've paid my phone bill today as well.
Since my heels on both feet are bleeding, I'm wearing my Nike ACG sandals, and a pair of socks. My feet have a habit of wearing out the heel bit of a shoe, chewing out the slivers of mattress there, but then they (the plastic reinforcements built into the shoes' fabric)start to bite back. Three of the four pairs of Nike trainers are all chewed out at the heel. It's only my marathon shoes that are still holding themselves together, but only through lack of wearing them.

When I arrived back at my building before lunch, I caught a glimpse of myself in the reflection. Long sloppy gray generation X Quicksilver shirt, long gray baggy trousers, vomit green socks and khaki sandals. I have the garb, the gray pajamas, of a coal miner. I chuckled today, a self-deprecatingly chortle, because I really looked like a slob today, going into the Immigration Office.

For the end of October, it's warm. It's already 17C. I might wear short khaki trousers to work today before packing them away. I'll put on a decent collared shirt as well. And then another trek to work and back before swimming, and a nice pasta for dinner.
