Week 17 Day 2
Tuesday was a fantastically productive day. I think it was because I started it off with a run early in the morning, with Petro and Jacques, and then just kept up the pace throughout the rest of the day.
Run: 6km
Time: 35:00
Heart Rate: 131 avg
Right leg felt stiff.
Have started to ask myself (now that the mornings are getting cooler and darker) Why am I doing this?
I took Maria to hospital as her daughter seems to be having some complications in terms of her pregnancy. Also met Ilze for lunch and sat right beside Steve Hofmeyr, organised with Cycletech to get my Zipp wheels couriered to Bloem, and then went to insure the Jeep in Willows.
From there I went to the stadium pool and just loved swimming in the absolutely fierce white webs of light. Was also motivating to see that I was a bit quicker than the girls in the lane next to me. One girl told me they swim 12km a day, 6km in the morning and then again in the afternoon. I said, "That's a long way to run, never mind swim." In season they bump the distance up to 21km.
I actually saw Werner Allers on the way out. It's amazing that he is still here, working at the pool, all these years later. Seen some interesting people today.
Swim: 1:03
Distance: 3km
5x200m (50 m pool, and lengths) on 3:30
10x100m on 2:00
20x50m on 1:00
Much tougher swimming in a 50m pool!
I meant to cycle with Jean but by the end of the day I just felt wasted, and ending up falling asleep. There was a power failure so it was just as well I went to watch FINDING NEVERLAND. It has left an impression, and I do feel inspired to write something of some significance again. I just need to set some goals and then keep at it until I've produced some quality work.
