Week 14 Day 1

Can't afford a rest day!

Jen called and woke me up and I immediately ran 9km, in around 53 minutes. Just slightly slower than the previous time. Felt a slight pulling and tenderness in the right foot again. Need to be careful.

Cycled 48km today just before sunset, averaging about 31km/h. The sunset was a stunning nuclear arrangement of silver linings, pregnant purples, fiery yellows and streaming pinks bleaching the land in a rosy glow. Sunbeams spread their magic down all over the Free State vlaktes - rich colors streaming from sky to ground, along curtains of rain.

The faraway light made the tall vast brown lands around me, and green mielies look green and lush.

The sun sets at about 19:15 now and then a delicious cool decends ove rthe land, with curtains of rain falling in some parts that the sun lights up. It's very beautiful, and there are some amazing vistas here - fields and forests in the veld - for cycling or driving through at this time of year. The sky in particular is just an explosion of fire at dusk. I'll try to capture this on camera on those days that I am not cyclingPosted by Hello
