Two Towers
The red and white tower on the left is really high. Maybe 200m. It is probably close to the height of the Eiffel Tower. I should know, I've been to Paris.
The one on the right is smaller, and more bulky. I think it's used for television signals, the other one for radio. I remember when the second was was being approved for construction, my father was a member of the Conservation Society and he drew a picture, a cartoon for the newspaper, to represent and protest the structure going up, with all the animals evacuating the reserve.
Well, the animals are still here, but the tower, though a recognizable feature (it can be seen while still as far as about 35km from the city) is a bit of a blight on the landscape. In a way, the city wouldn't be the same without it. Nevertheless perhaps they could have gotten someone in to design a tower with an artistic streak in it. Mr Eiffel, where are you?
