After the cycle race I coughed up a heck of a lot of phlegm (is that how you spell it?). So at least the aerobic process scrubbed out my lungs.
I heard that there was a half standard triathlon as well, the same day, same time, but had I known earlier I would still have chosen this as it is an endurance event, and the triathlon is not. It would have taken just over an hour to do.
CJ said he averaged over 39km/h which makes my 37.4km/h look a bit more shabby, but he says the bunch also shook him off coming back, at about 65km, coming up to the Caltex garage on the N1. They were obviously shunting the whole way. I am really determined to raise my game and stick like glue next time round.
Today I am sore and it's already 15:00 and I am supposed to do 2 hours training to hit my goal of 16 hours for the week.
I will probably go to the gym and do a long swim, maybe 4km, and then run. I have not had a rest day this week, and today I actually scheduled a long run, but my body is just too tired. I will try to set aside tomorrow just for a long run.
Got home at around 2am last night, absolutely shattered. Very sleepy and physically tired, but a great braai at Tico's, plenty of biltong, and braaivleis, and beer and icecream, and even a stint in the jacuzzi. Very good to soothe sore muscles. Jen and I actually went to Fishpaste, me in shorts still dripping with water. Saw Ane there and enjoyed the vibe but as I said, was far too whacked to stay up much longer. Had an okay sleep, plenty of dreams with some sexual undertones.
Nice to wake up on a Sunday and just laze away and watch cricket...
Tonight we will get together for a marshmellow braai on the farm.
