ET turned out to be an Eagle Owl (I speak under correction). It was calling out to another owl somewhere in the darkness. The woods were crawling with animals. There were big antelope lying in the dust right beside the road. The Lodge looked spiffy, but only a cat came out to greet us, walking sedately over an immaculate green lawn. I was able to get out of the car and get to within 2 metres of this guy.
