Wife dies, dad rapes kid the day before her burial - this country disgusts me

SHOOT: The witness said: "I told her I had seen everything but kept quiet because there was nothing I could do." Maybe doing something could have been dangerous. But maybe she could have made a phone call or simply turned on the lights. The test on what to do in any situation is to imagine what the victim is going through and then imagine what you would want a bystander to do to assist you.

The girl was testifying in the South Gauteng high court against Muzi Manana, 42, who is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in January 2007 at their home in Katlehong.

“We all (the kids) slept in one bedroom, but I was woken by a smell of something burning. I peeped through the door and saw him walking around the house with only his T-shirt on, he was burning something so I thought he was using muti to prepare for his journey to KwaZulu-Natal,” she said.

“I noticed Muzi was in the other bed where my cousin was sleeping, he was doing the movements. He stopped for a while and scooped vaseline with his finger, got back into the bed and continued with what he was doing to her,” she said.

“He then pulled her out of the bed and took her to my mother’s bedroom.”

“My cousin only told me the whole story after he had left. She said he had raped her, tried to strangle her when she screamed and forced her to drink alcohol while at it.
