#Swine Flu: What to do if you get it or already have it

SHOOT: Some good advice here. Self-isolate yourself, and do what you'd do if you have ordinary flu (don't exert yourself, drink lots of water and if it worsens seek medical attention). See below for more details.

9.15am:
The US government's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued new stern-sounding guidance on what to do if swine flu is confirmed in a community.

Persons who develop influenza-like-illness (ILI) (fever with either cough or sore throat) should be strongly encouraged to self-isolate in their home for 7 days after the onset of illness or at least 24 hours after symptoms have resolved, whichever is longer.

It goes on to discuss sending children from schools and nurseries and the cancellation of large gatherings.

There is separate guidance on the use facemasks, antivirals, and taking care of an infected person in your home.
