WHO says stick to 'Swine Flu'

SHOOT: It will be good if the demand for livestock in general slides. People are eating far too much meat anyway.

Smithfield Foods Inc., the world’s largest pork processor, said yesterday it had found no clinical signs or symptoms of the flu strain in its swine herds or employees at joint ventures in Mexico.

“Based on available recent information, Smithfield has no reason to believe that the virus is in any way connected to its operations in Mexico,” the Smithfield, Virginia-based company said in a statement.

SHOOT: That's amazing. I guess Smithfield can't understand why it's called Swine Flu. But in their statement they say 'no reason to believe' which is a statement of opinion rather than fact. It's not very difficult to get emperical scientific data that confirms where the diseases are coming from, and the early indications are that Smithfield's beliefs are slightly off.
