SHOOT: Texas is right next door to Mexico.
The swine flu epidemic has claimed its first victim in the US - a 23-month-old child who died in Texas.
It is also the first death from swine flu reported outside Mexico, the country hardest hit by the outbreak.
No other details of the US case are known. Officials have confirmed 65 cases in America so far, most of them mild.
Earlier the Mexican authorities said the rate of deaths from the virus there has slowed.
A total of 160 people are now known to have been killed by the outbreak, all but one in Mexico.
Of those, 26 were found to have been infected by the A/H1N1 virus, of whom seven "corresponded beyond any doubt to deaths caused by the new virus", said Mexico's health minister Jose Angel Cordova.

The baby was from Mexico, he was only here for days, if even, before dying. We shouldn't be scared yet. But because it is becoming a bigger problem, we should take every precaution to try and prevent as much as we can. There are many helpful health resource sites out there that will help.
