SHOOT TARGETS: Top Ten on Twitter [LIST]

The top ten twitterers are based on frequency, interest and to some extent whether the twitterer responds to a tweet.

1. Lance Armstrong: Often uses twitterpic (see above), insights into training and racing, updates several times a day - anything from a glass of wine with fellow twitterer Johan Bruyneel, to a picture of him post-collarbone surgery, to comments on his kids and coverage of a training ride.

2. Matthew Buckland: Often makes personal observations, doesn't self promote and provides some regular edgy updates from the bowels of MEDIA24

3. Mashable - The Social Media Guide - super stay-in-the-loop content from these guys. Take their current article: A Brief History of the Status Update

4. Phillip Defranco: Honestly I am more a fan of his YOUTUBE videos (see below). Videoblogging is less popular in South Africa, but I'd predict once costs go down and speeds go up PhillyDTV will be a cult figure amongst video bloggers in South Africa. I've tried to emulate him, but what can one say, he's a natural with a huge following.

5. WIRED magazine: Awesome content and great variety. Edgy, entertaining with geek, pop, guru and scientist welded together nicely.

6. Richard Branson: I don't need to say why. He's fairly new to Twitter with only 87 updates so far.

7. David Lynch: For those days when you feel like something different. An inspired (or off the wall) quote perhaps, eg:
Art has its source in the transcendent.

8. The Onion: For weird news and an opportunity to think about how crazy the world is.

9. The Oil Drum: A valuable source of non-mainstream data fused with meaningful commentary.

10. Helen Zille: Mayor of Cape Town, Leader of South Africa's main opposition party the Democratic Alliance. One of the few ostenisbly moral politicians in South Africa, and a person of vigorous energy, enthusiasm and urgency. Even if you're not South African follow her and support her (as we followed and supported Barrack Obama). She provides fairly frequent updates and insights into her thoughts and intentions. Zille was also recently voted the world's best mayor.

This is a really great top ten list. You can post this to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/ and then link back to your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
