He said he wanted to introduce 100,000 electric cars to the capital�s streets and to build an infrastructure of 25,000 charging points in public streets, car parks and shops. Johnson said he would pay for a third of the £60m plan from the budget of the Greater London Authority (GLA), and challenged the government to fund the rest and make good its enthusiasm for electric vehicles, which Gordon Brown today said would feature in the upcoming budget announcement. �This is an unprecedented package of measures to make London the electric car capital of Europe," said Johnson. �By taking these steps, we will not only create green collar jobs, but also smooth the way for less polluting transport choices which will improve our air quality, reduce traffic noise and contribute significantly to my carbon emissions reduction target.
