Niehaus soon to have no house - meanwhile a facade of lies and coverups is being revealed

One wonders why it is that with just weeks to go before the election, Niehaus came forward. A very damaging time for the ANC, but then perhaps he was blackmailing others or is being paid to come forward or perhaps it's dumb luck...
FORMER Gauteng premier Mbhazima Shilowa may yet be drawn into the fallout after Carl Niehaus’s confessions of fraud, which on Friday cost Niehaus his job as African National Congress (ANC) spokesman.

Shilowa has denied any blame in the allegations against Niehaus, saying that while he was in office he was informed of Niehaus’s illegal activity , but did not ask for details.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it will lay charges against Mashatile, and believes Shilowa could be implicated.

In his startling confession to the Mail & Guardian on Friday, Niehaus said he had forged the signatures of Mashatile and others to get a loan from the Blue Label company.

He said that “in exchange for the loan they (Blue Label) wanted a letter committing various provincial ministries to favouring them when they wanted to rent, sell or lease government buildings in Johannesburg”.

Political analysts say they believe the ANC is to blame for “deploying” Niehaus to be the “face and the voice” of the party.
