Hurricane Ike Cat 4, but may weaken overnight - Updated Track + Atlantic Infra red Satellite Image

Ike remains a very dangerous Cat 4 storm.

After becoming really powerful - a Cat 4 storm, Ike may weaken quite significantly overnight and although a Cat 3, is projected weaken further to Cat 2 status, before strengthening. The area Ike is moving into now is a very unstable mass. Ike is essentially falling into the slipstream - a very large area - occupied for a long period by Hanna (who is now on the move northward) while Hurricane Ike continues west.

Stats:

Winds gusting to 135mph (CAT 4)
Movement due west at 14mph, putting the system almost due south of the Florida Keys.
Minimum central pressure: 945 mb (this is very low, and is a signal we have a major system on the cards).
