Gustav: more of the Katrina Medicine than you think

Gustav is projected to cost $10 billion. Katrina cost $41. However, take a look at these images. Rigoletes in eastern New Orleans - which connects into Lake Pontchartrain - is a suburb entirely underwater.

The premium on the oil price (in terms of long term hit to supply) remains unknown. Like Katrina, Gustav ought not to be seen as an isolated incident, but part of a process of attrition, and as such, we ought to respond massively, and collectively in how, we choose to live - and to some extent, where.
