We thought we were safe but in 30 minutes the fire went everywhere

SHOOT: Fires have gone from making headlines once every few years, to every year, to each month. Devastating fires somewhere in the world, often close to metropolitan areas. Cape Town and some surrounding areas in South Africa recently suffered massive fire-scarring, same in Australia. The USA is experiencing similar effects because of higher than average ambient heating/drying.

"It (the fire) is rekindling in different places," Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said. "We don't know where it's going to pop up next."

"We're seeing a scaling back," Lojka said. "For the moment, we're catching up."

"We thought we were safe but in 30 minutes the fire went everywhere," she said. "I consider myself lucky we're safe."
