US sea captain freed, pirates dead in firefight

SHOOT: Would love to see REAL-TV on how the Navy Seals went about this. Theoretically they could have done an infrared pattern on the dingy, assess where the pirates were and then have the Seals deploy into the water and come up in a co-ordinated pattern. They probably had amazing communication; probably digital headsets/goggles. I'm glad the captain came out of this alive. He put his life on the line - good to see a happy ending.
The bad news is the pirates will probably use lethal force in the future too. [So far they haven't.]

Capt. Phillips Saved

MOMBASA, Kenya – An American ship captain was freed unharmed Sunday and three of the pirates who held him for days in a lifeboat off the Somali coast were killed in a operation by U.S. Navy Seals that was approved by President Barack Obama, officials said.

Capt. Richard Phillips' crew, who said they had escaped after he offered himself as a hostage, erupted in cheers aboard their ship docked in Mombasa, Kenya. Some waved an American flag and fired a flare in celebration.
