SHOOT: It will be good if the Opposition (Democratic Alliance) can secure 20% or more. So far only 17% of vortes have been counted.
Seems COPE, IFP, ID, UDM, ACDP, PAC and VF haven't really impressed thus far.
Election Results as at 24 April at 9pm.
With four million votes counted and verified out of the 23 million voters registered, the state of the parties was as follows:
African Christian Democratic Party 34,717 votes 0.78%
African National Congress 2,881,712 votes 64.7%
Congress of the People 343,979 votes 7.72%
Democratic Alliance 821,470 votes 18.44%
Inkatha Freedom Party 119,035 votes 2.27%
Pan Africanist Congress of Azania 13,360 0.3%
United Democratic Movement 49,298 votes 1.11%
Vryheidsfront Plus (Freedom Front Plus) 48,484 votes 1.09%
Independent Democrats 72,862 votes 1.64%
The present best estimate is that it will take 43,000 votes to elect one MP, though it will eventually depend on the total number of votes cast.
