What this means: further confirmation that warming is happening and accelarating at the Poles. The majority of people believe climate change to be a gradual event. This is true up to a point, and then radical changes occur. We can probably do nothing to prevent us from going through radical Phase Change. However, we can begin to plan and save and store with these fundamental shifts in mind.
An ice bridge linking a shelf of ice the size of Jamaica to two islands in Antarctica has snapped. Scientists say the collapse could mean the Wilkins Ice Shelf is on the brink of breaking away, and provides further evidence of rapid change in the region.
