Lance Armstrong - was his comeback premeditated?

So Lance is doing well so far - he seemed on schedule in Australia, and had a credible performance in California...hell, he was on the heels of the top riders.

I had an intwisting thought. After Lance retired...what did he do? Anyone, anyone? Answer, he started running marathons. Now, if you've got it in the back of your mind to come back, your primary concern is...gaining weight during 'downtime'. What better way is there to stay light than to run marathons. And Lance didn't just run them. He raced them. He was running his marathons under 3 hours, and with the Chicago marathon in mind, wanted to break 2:30, which is seriously fast.

For a 10km run Armstrong is able to average 3min33 per km, which is around 33 minutes.

I remember watching a few Tour de France's since Lance's exit, and it was clear that the standard had slipped. What happened to Hincapie, and Popovich? It's obvious Lance kept them on their toes. He must have been thinking...jeepers...maybe I should have another go (based on the lack of vim and vigour displayed in the last 2 tours).

Lance is a consummate champion. I'm sure there are thousands rooting for him to come back and eclipse the competition.
