Inspired by Tron - the reverse teardrop is the modern beetle for a world running out of beetlejuice

NVDL: I like the design...but again, we need fewer cars. We need designs for streetcars that run on railway tracks, not nicer, better cars. We're stuck in our thinking...understandable, but we're going to have to jolted out of this rut that mororing is normal and natural, and we're entitled to do so for the course of our lives.

We're betting the designers behind the Mitsubishi i MiEV Sport Air concept watched Tron a few dozen times and killed a lot of time playing the videogame. Their latest stab at a smaller, greener car that's easier on the planet looks like something Clu might have driven inside the Encom mainframe.

The i MiEV Sport Air is the latest iteration of an electric concept car that's been kicking around the show circuit for a couple of years, but before bringing it to the Geneva Motor Show Mitsubishi gussied it up with a bigger motor, removable translucent roof panel — hence the "Air" designation — and an interior you've gotta see to believe.

The result is an urbo-transpo-electro- ... dear God, just what exactly is this thing anyway?
