But it's not all about the box office. Watchmen is something of a sacred text among the comic book faithful, and Snyder's violent movie version remains fairly faithful to the source material. "It does what The Dark Knight set out to do, telling a dark story, having you question the morals of the characters," he told Wired.com in an e-mail interview.
