Glad to be a Girl Wins Best African Blog of 2009

"I am amazed by the win! I mean sure, we all enter these things with the best of intentions. Generally, I do it because I hope to be one of the finalist (like in the 2008 Bloggies) because those lists stay up there with a link to your blog indefinitely. So the international (and even local!) exposure is what it's all about to me.

"That said, winning is fantastic and I'm enjoying the increased traffic and hoping to snag a few new regular readers from it, even though I'm well aware that my blog won't appeal to everyone.

"Also, I hope everyone will remember we have our own local brand of Blog Awards on the go currently too." - phillygirl
