Reading Between The Lines

I went for a walk today. (Jean Marie sms'ed to say she is sick). Since I was all dressed up, I went somewhere. Walked to the Mall, bought a paper and guzzled a chicken mayo sandwich, then went to watch a movie called The Squid and the Whale. A bunch of teenage girls chose this movie to watch together (one of them celebrating a birthday). Big mistake. It's a very intimate look at a family, with plenty of icky scenes, and when it's not icky it's downright uncomfortable. A good film in the sense that the director rendered a personal experience in a genuine way, but one is entitled to ask oneself: "Why?"

A friend called me, and during a long chat mentioned that another friend had asked about me, and she'd relayed that: Nick is well, his teaching is going well. He's still cycling. He's being paid for his writing and writing a lot, and he's still with his girlfriend.

Although it's accurate, for me it feels like that statement lacks a few technical details to be factually correct. If you refer to the paragraph on top, it's possibly the icky details we need to forget about, and just focus on the plain truth. Sometimes that's enough.

Am contemplating 2 projects at the moment:
1) Collaborating with Jim Kunstler (and other writers) on a fictional (but based on fact) future scenario - being as technically precise as possible, in drawing up a 10 year picture for the future. It will probably sound like sci fi, even though it will be an attempt to render reality in the not distant future. I think we're in for Future Shock, so it ought to be a shocking, ground breaking story.

2) Giant are needing a new design for cycling clothes, so want my design idea rendered this week so they can possibly use it. Have already called Adele and Yolande to discuss concepts.
