Tropical Storm Alpha forces evacuations
The latest information shows that the Gulf of Mexico will only be back to 'normal' operational capacity in 6 months. Many rigs and platforms have been damaged by the power of the storms this year and remain 'shut in'. We will see an oil shock in the coming weeks (as the Northern Hemisphere hits the dead of winter), because demand continues to be robust globally and the constricted supply means global capacity has begun to wither. Result: an unbridgeable gulf.
Dominican Republic, Haiti get drenched

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic - Tropical Storm Alpha (Hurricane Andrew pictured above) drenched the Dominican Republic and Haiti with heavy rains after sweeping ashore Sunday, forcing the evacuation of 30,000 people from flood-prone areas. Forecasters warned deadly flash floods and mudslides were possible.
