Housewife Stephenie Meyer, came up with the idea for Twilight after a 2003 dream.
She spent three months writing her first manuscript but only sent it to a publisher after her sister insisted.
Now married mum-of-three Stephenie, 35, left – a devout Mormon from Arizona – has sold 85 million books and amassed a £35million fortune. Not bad for a girl whose English teacher said: “Her writing was good but not outstanding.”
SHOOT: Stephen King has apparently also said that Meyer 'can't write worth a damn'. Millions would disagree.
The planet’s dreamiest cadaver – Robert Pattinson – rises from the grave again to feast on blood and set teenage pulses racing in the Twilight Saga’s second instalment
Packed with more six-packs than Kerry Katona’s fridge and expertly nailing the exquisite highs and crushing lows of first love, New Moon is a film that any self-respecting girl aged 12 to 20 will devour.
Based on Stephenie Meyer’s book, we catch up with angsty 18-year-old Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) who’s still conducting a clandestine romance with local vampire Edward Cullen (Pattinson). But, as every teenager knows, true love rarely runs smoothly and, with the townsfolk becoming suspicious of their affair, it’s not long before her bloodsucking beau dumps her and flees the country.
Despite the small problem of Ed's propensity for sucking on arteries – not to mention the lovers’ 91-year age difference – the film effortlessly sweeps you along in a swirl of intoxicating passion.
