ANC and ASA demanding an apology from IAAF reflects badly on them

SHOOT: This level of arrogance is troubling. Apparently South Africa should get exceptional treatment when it comes to the law, when it comes to ordinary rules in athletics.
The African National Congress says it now wants the International Amateur Athletics Federation to publically and unconditionally apologise to Caster Semenya, South Africa and the president.
The ruling party’s task team also says it wants all the gender tests conducted so far on Semenya to be declared null and void.
The ANC’s Jackson Mthembu on Friday said the IAAF must say sorry to everyone involved in this saga.
“We are therefore not apologetic when we say we need an apology as a country, as the people, as the leadership of the country and the athletes, particularly Caster and her family,” said Mthembu.
He also said proper procedures were not followed when gender tests were done and thus they cannot be allowed to stand.
The party seems to be a little unsure about whether it would accept the result if the process was started again from scratch.
