YOUR NEWS: Wunderground surfing on user generated content

SHOOT: Found this in my inbox today. Wunderground received its 1 millionth photo submission recently. I know these guys provided brilliant coverage of hurricanes last year. This year has been quiet on that front, so they've turned their attention to these photos. Nice stuff.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - July 28, 2009) - Weather Underground, the world's first
online weather service, today received its one-millionth photo submission for its popular photo section WunderPhotos.

Launched in 2002, WunderPhotos has become one of the most popular sections on wunderground.com, attracting weather enthusiasts and photography lovers alike. The section features user-uploaded photographs depicting current weather conditions, wildlife and almost any outdoors subject matter. WunderPhotos often features images of significant current weather events such as hurricanes, floods, snow storms, and even solar eclipses -- all submitted by fans of the site.

Steremberg says of this milestone, "The one-millionth WunderPhoto is a true testament to the power of enabling your users to drive content on your website. With the help of our users, what started as a pure weather site has turned into an interactive weather community."
