On the way to work today it was pouring with rain. Had my umbrella and a Nike shell, but about 500m from school a yellow school van drove by, close to the pavement and sprayed me full of water.
I feel like I am not 100% healthy. Might have the beginnings of a cold.
It seems Hurricane Rita is following in the footsteps of her older sister Katrina.
What no one realises is the damage already done by Katrina (according to the American Petroleum Institute, Katrina destroyed 46 rigs and platforms and significantly damaged 18 others). This means, even without any further damage, the American economy is going to struggle to find local oil or even international oil supplies to meet demand. That means we'll see a supply crunch, and very high oil prices. Rita can only exacerbate an already dangerous situation that will soon become the world's problem.
Now, pay careful attention to what is happening in Iran. Iran is one of Opec's largest contributors. Notice how European countries and America will use the nuclear issue to try to force their way in. It is an excuse to police that countries oil, just as it was in Iraq.
So far we are seeing the fourth-busiest Hurricane season since record-keeping started in 1851. 21 tropical storms is the record, set in 1933. We're at 17 now. The Hurricane season ends in about 70 days.
I'm still weighing swimming tonight. Not feeling so great, so may leave it tonight.
