Week 34/(27) Bonne compagnie

In the news, North Korea has agreed to stop pursuing its nuclear ambitions. Well, this is great news, but it remains to be seem whether the actions will follow the agreement. If the North Koreans do as they say, this will be a breakthrough for this whole region, and will possibly be the beginning of a new era of growth and prosperity. Let's hope so, but we might need to hold our breath in the meantime.

The weather here has been mild and warm, but the skies very heavy with pollution. As it gets cooler the skies seem to clear.

I watched a movie today called SLIPSTREAM, with Sean Astin (Samwise). I noticed after a few minutes that it was shot in the streets of Cape Town. It is interesting, and kind've nuts, the extent to which they use American looking cars and the lengths they go to hide Table Mountain and sort of Americanise every scene. All the vitality of the actual area and the people is cut out. What a shame! Pity the writers of these stories don't travel much or have the confidence to write about other places.
I saw scenes shot from the Seapoint Pool, on the highways between the harbour and the flyover, in the St George's Mall area, and Cape Town's international airport.
Too bad, I don't think this film will do very well. The soundtrack is pretty good though.

Went to a farewell dinner with some friends. Karlee is leaving Korea (has already quit her job) on Thursday.
We'll miss her, and wish her happiness and good times in Thailand.

I hope we'll see her again, either in Canada, or Thailand, or South Africa.
