SHOOT: If something is going to happen, if there is going to be a move against the yellow jersey - or is it golden lion - today is the day. I have ridden the route and it is punishing. I'm not sure what is harder, the escalating climbs from Hermanus up to Villiersdorp, or Franschoek Pass.
Rest and recovery up to know will have been crucial. Riders [and teams] who have expended too much energy at the front of the peloton over the past few days will suffer and fall out today. The question is, will the Rapha boys have the legs, because surely the South African teams and other mountain goats [like UCI's Gabresellasie] will be giving it everything to break Kristian House today.
House still has a 2min 22 sec lead, a gap he achieved on day one and has easily been able to maintain. On stage 4 House attacked on the final climbs near Wilderness, a sign that he is not in defensive mode.
Hopefully the mist will clear for good visuals, but the mist may suit some riders who want to disappear off the front of the peloton. Should be an excellent day's racing.
