I think that movie resonated a lot with me because I'm not making much sense of my world here right now.
I've gone through my diaries for 2002-2004 and in each diary August is a month of turmoil and upsets. Is it because it is a prelude to seasons changing around the world. Is it because we're reluctant to adapt to change?
Spent a lot of today working on the 'Review', posted below. I'm not quite as 'helder', clear, as I'd like to be. This was manufactured writing, but I real writer can write when called upon to write.
I probably would have a more succinct piece of writing if I'd written it last night, immediately after the movie.
I've read a few reviews that disparage the carnage in The Island. This is escapism and action at its zenith. Generations with look back at this and go: those guys were gone.
But the movie did shoot adrenalin into my blood and exhilaration into my bones. That's some kind of achievement.
I'd like to investigate how Jim Ordinary, a guy with some writing skill, would approach trying to make a living out of the craft of writing. Where to begin?
