Manto Tshabalala-Msimang is dead

SHOOT: You can't argue or reason or bargain with reality. If you drink so much that you lose your liver and you continue drinking, what else do you expect?

Former health minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has died, her doctor confirmed on Wednesday.

Professor Jeff Wing told Sapa Tshabalala-Msimang died in the Wits University Donald Gordon Medical Centre & Medi-Clinic ICU "about a minute ago", shortly before 3pm.

He said she died from complications related to her first liver transplant in 2007.

After the transplant she received from a teenage suicide victim, controversy erupted when the Sunday Times reported that the cirrhosis that necessitated her liver transplant was alcohol-induced.

It also alleged that Tshabalala-Msimang had continued drinking alcohol even after receiving a new liver. -- Sapa

What a waste , A more deserving person could have benefited from the transplanted liver.

Let me add my voice to anonymous - Manto was a disgrace to Africans everywhere and a dishonor to the medical profession. She regressed HIV care in SA by a decade. She used her contacts to get a liver transplant when other people had waited longer and deserved it more. She would NEVER have been given that transplant in the UK. I do not think her death is worthy of a front page article.

So Manto's dead. So what? She, and others still breathing played no positive role in the lives of the masses. Eventually they all will die, and few will care.
