Bombs hit a tent where a family was mourning a paramedic killed in an air strike on Sunday. Three people were killed and 17 wounded, medical workers said. - Yahoo
"Instead of caring about the people of Gaza, Hamas decided to use Gaza to use rockets to kill innocent Israelis," he said.
NVDL: It sounds terrible. 'Hamas decided to use Gaza to use rockets to kill innocent Israelis.' But really, what is more terrible - killing hundreds to avenge the death of 4 people? Bombing tents?
The death toll in Gaza rose to at least 541 people, many of them civilians. Among Monday's victims were 13 members of a Palestinian family killed in an Israeli strike on their home in a refugee camp, Palestinian medical officials said.
The Israeli air force bombed dozens of targets, including homes of Hamas members used as weapons depots.
As night fell, Israeli troops were trying to capture a hill overlooking Jabaliya town and refugee camp and Hamas fighters were resisting them strongly, witnesses said. Heavy Israeli air and artillery strikes concentrated on that area.
A rocket hit the Israeli port city of Ashdod, damaging a building and wounding two people, police said. Four Israelis have been killed by salvoes fired into Israel since the offensive began.

well I suppose 7 years of constant rocket fire is something that shoud just be ignored.
If you spend 7 years stabbing a tiger with a pocket knife until it starts to bleed it will sooner or later turn around and bite off your head
Interesting point. Maybe the tiger needed to do something about the annoyance during the 7 year period. That said, I don't think a pocket knife was ever going to kill the tiger, so why not bite off a finger early on.
I don't care who you are, one group of people's lives aren't more important than anothers. Life is precious (ours and theirs) and with the sort of weapons that are available civilian casualties ought to be in the tens or less. Ideally zero. Bombing tents etc shows a disrespect for life which only causes, eventually, a similar response.
well actaully a large series of responses were tried, firstly leaving gaza in its entirety, this did nothing accept allow hamas to overthrow fatah completely in a bloody coup, throwing people off buildings, taking control of the media, and causing the missile fire to grow at a much faster rate, so security and checkpoints were put in, which again did nothing, so the blockade was started which again did nothing, and finally we have a war.
It has been building for a long time, and if you actually look through the history of the event israel has done as much as possible to prevent this stage from getting here.
Imagine it like this, if I sat outside your house with my old rusty rifle and took potshots at your windows and doors, most of the time I miss, every so often I hit a wall, only a couple of times have I hit one of you children in the leg, killed one of their friends when they come to visit. So you call the police (in this case the UN) and they do absolutely nothing. You ask me to stop, and I tell you I will only stop once I kill you all, so you build a wall, and so I start thowing old rusty grenades over the top, I can't see properly, but fortunately after a couple a weeks I hit your dog, and your daughter. So she loses her leg. Her friends don't come round and visit anymore because they MIGHT get hit too, you, your wife and your children don't ever want to leave your house because you MIGHT get hit. They are too scared even to stand by the windows of the house, or go on a drive to the cinema. They have closed the school nextdoor, because a couple of grenades have fallen into the playground.
This is why it is called terrorism, because it has nothing to do with the actual amount of deaths, it has to do with the spreading of fear and terror. At what point do you come across the street and beat me to smithereens and take away my weapons? Because you must agree it has to surely get to that point at some stage.
And secondly, looking at gaza, one of the worlds most densely populated areas, with hamas fighters, purposely fighting within civilian buildings, hospitals and streets, using UN branded ambulances to move around terrorist fighters (http://commentary.co.za/archives/2009/01/05/kicking-off-2009-with-a-bang/#comments) the amount of civilian casualities is incredibly small. Unbelievably so in fact. Hamas wants civilian causalities. It what causes us to be horrified, it takes up the pages in the newspapers and tv broadcasts, turing the world to there side, parading dead children in front of cameras. Why else do you use your civilian polpulation as a shield?
Please don't get me wrong, every casuality is horrible, but that is war, and from my perspective I cannot see what else Israel can do.
Perhaps you have a better route for them to follow? One that does not involve suicide?
