Cholera in SA: 44 dead, Health Minister calls situation 'Scary'

FOLLOWING the death from cholera of 36 people since November — at least 32 of them South African — Health Minister Barbara Hogan outlines plans to arrest the spread of the disease.

At least 54 new cases were reported in Limpopo at the weekend.

The Times’ special report last week on the cholera outbreak highlighted the desperate situation around the country.

But since November almost 6000 people have been infected, according to Hogan’s figures.
