Mammuthus primigenius against Homo Bloody Freezing Outheretis. I took an even warmer winter jacket than this to the dry cleaners and collected it today. I also gave them even older NEXT trousers, a great stretch fabric, that have begun to...well...wear through just below the crotch. They are probably the best pair of trousers I've ever had. Comfortable, sexy, they just sit well and the ends land perfectly on my shoes.
I bought those in Scotland in 1998 and I am just unwilling to throw them out, unless I can source a new pair. I actually did find some on the net, but NEXT don't ship to Korea, so that helped.
When I came out of Computer Cleaning (they clean clothes though) with my Eskimo accoutrement, all spick and span and wrapped in plastic, I said to Corneli: "You reckon I should throw it away?"
She looked at me: "You get it cleaned and now you want to throw it away?"
My reasoning is just that where I am going I won't need it, and this was the first thing I bought in Korea 3 years ago. I meant to upgrade it to a Nike Everest or Nike Moon jacket. When I found the arm nearly burnt off last year (someone moved a heater too close to the chair where my jacket was hanging, and the arm half melted off), and that seemed like a good time to turf it out. But Computer Cleaners came to my rescue, they patched the arm back together, good as new. Thanks.
The jacket I am talking about is like walking around in a sleeping bag. Warm as toast, but frumpy as hell. It does the job so I guess it'll stay, unless it goes up in flames before that.
