Blast Off

A rocket uses the most fuel in the first few seconds of take-off. A jet is the same, same for a swimmer jumping off the blocks, or a car moving forward when the lights turn green. Same for the first day when a smoker tries to kick the habit. Same same same.

The energy required to get from 0 to a few metres above the Earth's surface is massive. But once it's off the earth, and moving upward, it gains speed, it gains momentum, and then the vice-like grip of the Earth's gravity begins to lessen, begins to weaken, and the momentum grows, the vehicle is able to move, to manouvre more easily. The Earth (home, the comfort zone)falls behind and the Gulf of Space (the goal, the destination) beckons.

The same is true of any endeavour. The initial entropy must be pushed against with massive amounts of energy. That requires fire, passion, discipline.  Posted by Hello
