Balancing Act

Just after my body began to respond to sea level O2 levels (takes about 4 days), I drove back to where I am now - about 1500m above sea level. Feel tired, as though I cycled hard this weekend, instead of only 1 day.

I think they may have allowed me to cycle. if I'd moved my saddle backwards about 2-3 cm. Given how much I suffered in the 120km race a week ago, a 140km was not on the cards. Nevertheless, I did find myself wishing I could have done at least a few laps.

I spoke to Mr Taylor today about my balancing act. Work (teaching), studying at university and sport, plus all the hostel duties - I'm not able to balance all three, and the least important one needs to make way for the other three. The least important one is working in the hostel. Mr Taylor says if I don't do hostel duties then I must move out, so I guess that is what I am going to do. Probably by the end of of June, at the latest by the start of next term.

I like my room but I am really not enjoying (or recovering from) living at such close quarters to students and work.

Going to gym this afternoon if I can muster up the energy. Feel drained, but also compelled to get into shape again.

I looked, last night, at the heart rate graph of my ride on Thursday. Quite scary. It is almost a straight line - almost, with virtually no variation. 171 average is my highest average by far (the next highest is 162, for the Argus).

So nit was a good hard, attempt, but the performance is shocking. Just not very good. So going to be working on that for the next few days and weeks.
