SOUTH AFRICA IS THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WHOSE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION POLICY FAVOURS A MAJORITY WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO HAVE COMPLETE POLITICAL CONTROL
Much like inheriting a billion pounds only to die broke or forfeiting a three goal half time lead; ineptocracy is one’s failure to succeed from a position of strength.
A political example of ineptocracy would be South Africa’s ruling party the ANC; who after 18 years of leading one of the most fertile and resource rich countries in the world hasn’t developed any sustainable solutions to generating wealth for its people beyond affirmative action, land redistribution and the nationalization of assets.
After almost two decades of rule, the ANC’s sole solution to endowing its people is still to merely take wealth away from others. Surely this is their failure?
Consider that South Africa is the only country in the world whose affirmative action policy favours a majority who also happens to have complete political control. In the rest of the world affirmative action is designed to favour the politically un-represented minority, not the politically strong majority.
South Africa now appears to have a system of government whereby the ruling party is elected by the non- contributing majority, who in turn are then rewarded with subsidies, goods and services paid for from the earnings of the contributing minority.
The flaw with this system is that nowhere does there exist a plan, nor an incentive, for this impoverished majority to actually start contributing to the economy and hence they continue to demand more from their elected leaders who in turn continue to deflect the wealth generation burden onto the contributing minority.
Clearly this cycle of diminishing returns is not sustainable as eventually the expectation of the non-contributing majority will become too high and the burden on the contributing minority will become too great. In the end something has got to give as no economy can bear 20 million people supporting 50 million people.
To further illustrate just how poorly the ANC has done at generating wealth solutions for its people over the past 18 years, consider Germany and Japan who at the end of World War II were completely decimated by the Allied bombings and were thus economically distraught. Neither had any industry, agriculture nor natural resources to generate wealth from, yet within 20 years both countries had uplifted themselves to being highly employed, economic powerhouses. Clearly both these governments achieved vastly more for their people with significantly less over a similar period of time and without disadvantaging any demographic.
So the fact that after two decades of complete political control the ANC has failed to secure wealth generation systems for its people beyond affirmative action and nationalisation, well is that not the very definition of ineptocracy?

True, but what do the world do. .Compare 3 schools with 1200 students .That is the amount of white farmers women and children murdered under the new regime Please do something forward this to your public, get the world to know,
You know what really hacks me off about articles like this? Who were the countries that sanctioned SA, due to 'apartheid' and thereby forced the ANC into control? Now you all stand back and wipe your little uninformed hands and point fingers to SA, when you were the cause of this in the first place. You don't give an eliphant a car to drive, unless you have trained him to drive a car.... If you can't do something to remedy the situation you were partly to blame for, may I suggest you refrain from commenting at all. It's due to interference, such as this, from parties who know nothing about the real facts, that SA is in the position it is in. Rather concentrate on the moral decay of the UK. That might benifit you more in the long run.
The minority NP were right to give up power. But the ANC have made no real progress to deliver to their people - they're still stuck in 'struggle mode', where everything is populist racism and they're not accountable for their own failures, or even worse, their corrupt feeding at the trough. Hopefully their voters realise this over time, and we'll see real change in this country in the next election or the one after that.
What did the world think was going to happen when you hand over a country to a bunch of corrupt, immoral, incompetent communists??? Really!
Ineptocracy.....nice word.
People should try and remember that the rest of the world could not wait to remove an operating government from power in South Africa, and give power to a bunch of illiterates.
The "president" of that country has an education level of a ten year old child, so what does the rest of the world expect.
Africa will never be of any account.
Your article makes some interesting and valid observations on the the South African economic state, however it also brings out your ignorance on the issue of Affirmative Action.
In South Africa the majority were oppressed by the minority which is not the case in most of the countries that implemented Affirmative Action.
Otherwise the article is on the mark regarding all the other issues.
Seriously, what do you suggest. Most people are quite content to punch holes and point out problems. But I don't see a solution. Do you!!! Let me ask you this simple question. If you were living below the bread line and facing starvation every day....would you not vote for the party that promises you a loaf of bread even if it mean that loaf of bread comes from somebody else. Irrespective of weather than government party delivers on its promises or not at least it is promising something, surely as the formerly oppressed majority you are not going to vote in the same race of people who promised you NOTHING. This is the thing that nobody realizes. How are suppose to pacify a majority that is still poor, and still disadvantaged. Redistribution is a better solution for them, than no solution at all. I don't know the answer, and there are many, many, many things wrong this government, but most peoples comments and this article, seem to focus on the assertion that things are being taken away from the the minority. Well if you have nothing.....surely some form of redistribution would seem fair, at least from their point of view. It is isn't right. But I can understand where it stems from.....
The article is factually wrong - SA is not the opnly country in the world etc .... virtually every muslim country, e.g Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Iran pursues the same, wholly revolting, policies.
The article is partly spot on. But it would help to remember that the kind of Affirmative Action thats in play is to redress the Economic Inbalances. Political Power alone does not put bread on the table.
@Anonymous:
So taking from the minority and giving to the poor is fair? Which planet is that from? In fact the CEO of one of the SA banks (his name slips my mind) has plenty of answers on how to move forward. But you see, greedy, corrupt people turn a blind eye because there pockets get full.
The article relates to the number of years it has taken the country to become profitable where there actually seems to be less growth.
Get off your moral high horse and grow up. Or perhaps you can give away your car for the sack of the poor (who actually also don't wanna work)
While I agree that the article by D. Hill was timeous and catchy, its contents remain somewhat questionable. Not really 'true', if one is to take a closer look at history. It is all a question of history, is it not...
