For a cave-dweller I thought I did rather well. I drove in the dark of night to somewhere never ventured before - Wits Uni. Imagine my surprise finding Sandstone Buildings that resembled Washington's Capitol Hill. Wits campus has a great vibe. It has the sort of international feel that UCT also has. UFS for example doesn't have that vibe. UFS is more of a backwoods farmyard university. I say that with a certain fondness, and a certain...amount of contemptuous sneering.
I went to the SubStation theatre to record a showreel for Roxanne. Ja we already have a showreel but the previous cameraman turned out to not know how to edit, and also had no idea that once you shoot something it has to come off the computer onto another machine (that's what editing involves). I think it may have helped him a lot if he taken time out to look up words (mostly beginning with 'd') in the dictionary, for example: deadline, discipline and incredibly dof.
It also odd running around the Wits theatre scene, to 4 individual theatres, chatting to one math/economics student on the way to being shown where these theatres were (about the economic dofness surrounding the oil price no less).
Roxanne's scene was okay. From there I went to gym and road the 6th stage with the boys. A dull day, but it ended pretty well, and now I know where Wits is. Might go around there on a quiet weekend and shoot some old buildings in golden winter light.
