Today is the last day of my gym membership, but I am not setting foot in the gym today. I can barely keep my eyes open. My body feels dry and tired. It's just past 10pm and I can see myself being totally gone to Dreamland in half an hour.
Corneli made an interesting comment today on the way back from school. She said,"I saw how you trained for the last Ironman, and your training now doesn't come close to that."
It's true.
And to start off the whole Push for the next Ironman with an injury, especially a serious one like Achilles, is a major dampener on enthusiasm. I feel a sense of depression. I think it is a reasonable message, a clear message. The message is that my body needs to rest, and refresh. Maybe this next race is too soon. Maybe it isn't just my body that needs to rest and rejuvenate, but my mind, and my spirit.
I will incorporate the South African Ironman (and the training implications)into the new paradigm, the one of rest and restoration, nonetheless. There isn't much time, certainly very little time if I want to dream about going under 10 hours, but if I am talking about simply finishing, then there is sufficient time left, I believe, to raise my game for a reasonable race.
Tomorrow is another day. I intended to swim and go to gym today and I've done neither. If I have a Power Sleep then I can make up for the slack tomorrow.
I have just had two terrible sleepless nights in a row, and I am really tired now of always being tired.
I got paid today but it isn't clear whether my air ticket money, over W600 000 was included. If I had to guess, I would say that it has not been paid. I will confirm that tomorrow. If it hasn't been paid, that will be very odd because I had a meeting specifically on that topic; to prep them for payment.
I also got my lab results faxed from the doctor. I'd really like to investigate the implications of some of the blood readings. I emailed the doctor, asking him to provide a few insights behind the numbers. In terms of an athlete, what should X reading or Y reading be, and which areas seem to be very good? They are all within healthy zones, but, creatinine, for example, I wonder what is an average reading, and what is a good reading for an athlete. It's a scientific way of approaching sport, getting the quality of the athlete's blood exactly where you want it (in terms of Haemoglobin, Vitamin B, creatinine etc).
Needless to say (or do I need to say?) the Hepatitus and HIV were negative.
A lot of people at school are sick now, and I will be too if I don't sleep and wake up feeling fresh and energised tomorrow.
I also want to take one or two more hours to discuss the minutiae regarding the training that needs to be done for the next trizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZ.
