clipped from www.news24.com Durban - A suicidal Newcastle man survived shooting himself in the mouth only to be run over by a truck, which landed him in hospital in a critical condition, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said on Thursday. “It is alleged that the suicidal man had attempted to take his own life last night (Wednesday) by shooting himself in the head with a .22 handgun while seated in his car," Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said. "The bullet passed through the man’s mouth and was lodged in his skull.” Still conscious, he got out of his vehicle and tried to cross the road when a truck ran over him. Paramedics treated and stabilised him on the scene, before taking him to hospital. “Due to the placement of the bullet the man requires the specialist care of doctors based at the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital. His condition remains critical but stable,” said Wicks.
