Goblet, Before Anyone Else
How it works at Ster Kinekor cinemas, is your ticket has no reservation number, so once the doors open, if you're first in line, you can choose where you want to sit.
I was last in line, so I got a front row seat. Front row seats are the best seats, unless you're at a Stand-Up Comedy venue, or in a cinema.
Do we need to have imaginations any more? Because now people with plenty of imaginations paint vivid canvasses full of fantastic flights of fantasy. I really enjoyed this movie, simply because the wizardry in cinematography today makes even the most spectacular scene (like a huge dragon running along the rooftops of a castle, yanking off tiles, in pursuits of a boy who is reaching for his broom...)- it's possible. Or it seems so.
Goblet of Fire is I think the only Harry Potter book I didn't finish. It seemed a bit frivolous...even when I started skipping pages, and the whole story seemed more to do with a tournament and boys vs girls than...well, magic. That may be so, but I think this book was a sort of transition book...in the same way that adolescence is a sort of transition period...where boys argue with each other and girls see how much power they have over boys.
I have read the latest Harry Potter, and it's a real credit to the author that she manages to hold such a wide swathe of attention. The cinema was chockablock full, and on my right was a mother with her teenage daughter, and on my left, a not so young couple.
Most memorable line in the movie?
Dumbledore to Harry Potter: "Things are about to get darker and more dangerous. The time will come for us to choose between what is easy, and what is right."
And Hermione:
"Everything's going to change from now on, isn't it?" (Worried expression on her face).
Harry: "Yes." (A look of calm acceptance on his face, as he tries to soothe her.)
I felt disappointed that my girlfriend had gone home to sleep. The movie was just so good, so exciting that it was a pity the other half of my ticket had gone to waste. Or did it? I offered up my ticket up for resale, and I have a good feeling someone picked it up before the show started.
