At the end of the marathon. As early as January I was unable to run without pain in my right ankle. I went to a phsiotherapist and did some pilates and core strengthening, and on Race Day had absolutely no pain in my right ankle. Instead, my left ankle hurt, probably from hours (over 5 hours) being exposed to a slightly curving road surface. I was surprised once I'd finished that my toes were completely numb, and my left ankle hurt so much I couldn't walk without limping slowly. Going down steps was a nightmare. Ironman is about this one thing: "Anything Is Possible".
