Why this country disgusts me

SHOOT: Good news is this freak was apprehended.

NEWS24.com: Mamonyane said the police officials attending to the accident saw a man walking along the highway some distance away and asked him why he was walking alone on the highway at that hour.

They picked him up but then realised he must have been the driver of the BMW.

He was detained at the Sunnyside police station while police conduct further investigations.

SHOOT: Have to say though that I drove from Irene [southern Pretoria] to Johannesburg earlier this week, and one lane is a continuously covered in beacons showing it is narrowing, which is doesn't do for perhaps 5km. Suddenly, after not narrowing for a long stretch, it does narrow, and you come to an absolute stop on the highway. It caught me by surprise and will probably catch many. Beware the stretch of the N1 between New Road and Allandale.

Johannesburg - Three people were burnt beyond recognition in a pile-up on the N1 south early on Friday morning, Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Edna Mamonyane said.

She said construction workers were busy on the highway, with a truck parked behind them as protection from the traffic.

At about 01:45, on the N1 between New Road and Allandale Road, a black BMW crashed into a Honda also travelling towards Johannesburg.

The Honda then crashed into the stationary truck. After this accident, the BMW driver allegedly accelerated and continued driving, but then struck a VW Golf further on.

The Golf burst into flames and the three occupants - two men and a woman - all burnt to death in what Mamonyane described as a "horrific" accident.

The driver of the BMW then allegedly left his car.

Mamonyane said the police officials attending to the accident saw a man walking along the highway some distance away and asked him why he was walking alone on the highway at that hour.
