SHOOT: Some folks use SHOOT as their staple for news. I love that. That's because SHOOT is a discerning conscience that carefully picks what is worth knowing. SHOOT doesn't broadcast what's happening willy nilly. SHOOT maintains a consistent gaze at important stories, from Swine Flu, to energy and food issues, to environment and population growth. SHOOT doesn't suffer from ADD. SHOOT has a tendency to be obsessive and even paranoid about some stories of vital importance to our common destiny; after all, we're an extraordinary generation at the apex of our species' achievements. It's likely to be all downhill from here, and we need to at least prepare ourselves and our psyches for this transition. It may be a brutal change, but we can manage it with forethought and foresight and where we can take action in preparation and participation. Think of what's coming as the gruelling Tour de France. You can train for it.
On SHOOY there has to be a certain amount of bullshit filtering going on. If the mainstream media can't spot a financial crisis from 3 years away, who are you going to trust? If the mainstream media still can't make up their minds that Peak Oil is a reality even beyond the 'foregone conclusion' phase, well, you need a smarter and sharper instrument to get your daily staple of information. You need a source that applies insight, can interpret information [why shouldn't we panic about Swine Flu?] and of course there is passion behind the stories on SHOOT, something you won't encounter at many other Media Companies.
SHOOT believes in the value of the individual - not in money but in human potential.
SHOOT also believes that context and perspective allow us to be make more realistic and sustainable choices - for ourselves and others. I hope you will continue to be part of this experience, of finding out who we are again, and where we belong in the puzzle of life on this planet.
Maybe, if enough people are enlightened we can start seeing a difference, we can start to become - ourselves - a part of the solution to the many troubles so many remain in denial about.
